Casa Vega is a Mexican restaurant that has been operating in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles for over 65 years. Casa Vega is located on Ventura Boulevard and is one of the longest continuously family-owned restaurants in all of greater Los Angeles. Casa Vega’s roots go back to famous Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles. Rafael “Ray” Vega opened Casa Vega in 1956 after being inspired by the success of his parents’ earlier restaurant, Café Caliente, which operated on Olvera Street throughout the 1930s. Casa Vega serves authentic, delicious food and drinks in a warm and festive atmosphere.

It all started in Tijuana, Mexico. Rafael, Sr. and Maria Vega worked at the famous resort, Aqua Caliente. Rafael’s brother, Alejandro Vega, was a merchant seaman that bought Irish Lottery ticket on the Rock of Gibraltor. He won. In the 1930’s with a loan from his brother, Rafael Sr., Maria and young Ray in tow, immigrated to the United States with dreams of owning a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles.

Christy Vega
Christina is a third-generation restaurateur and has worked over 20 years in the industry. She worked side-by-side with her father, the founder of Casa Vega, Ray Vega for over a decade before taking over. Christina studied Business & Economics while her passion always resided in food, hospitality and curating celebrations. It is Christina’s honor to carry on the Vega Family legacy.
